Multilingualism
Languages are the key to other countries, cultures and perspectives, and the earlier children start, the easier it is for them. In addition, learning several languages at an early age promotes social and cognitive development as a whole. The children learn English and German primarily through daily use according to the immersion method (‘language bath’), and there are also specific lessons in German and English from Year 1 onwards. Language learning at school using the immersion method is regarded as a particularly successful and sustainable form of learning, especially for younger pupils, in which communicative skills take centre stage and the language is not acquired in textbook scenarios but in everyday use. This intensive, exploratory and practical second language teaching lays the foundations for lifelong language learning and the development of excellent communicative skills overall.
